Comments on the Draft National Biodiversity Strategy and Action plan (NBSAP) 2026 - 2035
The Wild Law Institute added comments to the draft National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2026-2035 (draft NBSAP) compiled by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.
The submission welcomes the ambition and international alignment of the Draft NBSAP 2026–2035, but highlights that continued ecological decline and the limited success of the previous NBSAP demonstrate that existing approaches are not working. It argues that achieving the NBSAP’s vision of living in harmony with nature requires a fundamental shift towards eco-centric governance and holistic ecosystemic strategies, recognising Nature as a community of interconnected subjects rather than a collection of resources for human use.
